► Customer Feedback: An anonymous customer stated that their general shopping experience with us was Excellent. “Knowledgeable sales staff. High quality merchandise.” Did any of our team members do an unusually good job? “Seth is great!” Sales help, communication and product performance were rated Excellent. “Seth – knows product, happy to special order. Kept us up to date on special order.” Operations was good. “Warehouse staff is great. Sometimes cashiers seem unorganized.” They would recommend us to a friend.
► New advertising and special begin Sunday, October 20th: “Best of the Best”. Monthly promotions continue. This month’s color is purple.
► We dropped the Andover T by Olhausen. We will make a running change on the price lists, as it is hard to believe there will be much interest in a table model that we don’t have. However, we can order one for anyone who wants one.
► Submitted by Jen: Weekly Fire Alarm Tip: Acting managers should direct contaminated runoff in the chemical aisle to the floor drains. Also, flow of non-contaminated runoff to floor drains should be prevented if possible, so that there is enough room for the contaminated runoff. Fire alarm procedures are tested once a quarter. Your score on this test plays a part in the amount of your quarterly bonus. A complete answer key is returned with each graded test. If you would like another copy, please ask Jen.
► Please show some pride in everything that you do. For instance: if you are cutting a sign to fit into a frame, cut it the right size for the frame. If you do it wrong, at least get a piece of the same-colored paper, cut it correctly, and put it behind the bad piece – so that it looks right to the customer.
► There has been a huge increase in people other than Victor using the Customer Service Discount forms. Thank you.
► There is a new hot tub price list and program coming out right now. Special orders first, and stock probably November 3rd. Customers should buy now and SAVE. Windrift, cedar, and natural cedar exteriors have been discontinued. Also, wildwood covers. There are three new Signature exteriors, and a batch of smaller changes and improvements.
► From Mia: Remember to write every repair on the Repair Log. If you don’t know how or where that is – then don’t take in a repair.
► We lowered the price on Simonis cloth again; to match the internet. We also dropped special order charges on the Simonis 760SR cloth
► Jeanne’s brother David, died Thursday morning. He had cancer, was sick for a long time, and Jeanne was able to spend his final day in the nursing home, at his side. Dying at 54 is a lousy deal, but David, who was mentally ill, had a very difficult life. He is in a better place now. We are not planning on a funeral or memorial service.
► Halloween candy is due at the registers October 27 to 31.
► It Could Be Worse: I was five and a half months pregnant, and the principal decided it was time we had a chat about dress code… my dress code. “I don’t know if you are aware, but your body is changing,” she said awkwardly. “I’m concerned because your breasts have become inappropriately large for a secondary school teacher.” Long, uncomfortable pause. “That’s all,” she said, dismissing me. She never did say what she expected me to do about the problem. Kristen J., Tennessee
