►    Customer Feedback:   We received the following email from a customer in response to our “Snowload Warning” email:  “Folks, This is exactly the type of thing which makes you my favorite “local pool store” even though you are 30 miles from home.  You folks know what you are doing, carry good stuff, and very importantly – you care, and that matters so much in my mind.  Dave”

►    New advertising, weekly specials, and department promotions all start Sunday, August 3rd:  “August Clearance Sale”. The August Seasonal News should be arriving this week.  This month’s color is pink.

►    Upcoming Events:

August 1:  August Clearance Sale begins.  Get them while they’re hot!

August 9:  Customer Appreciation Day:  Free Gifts with any purchase, while they last.

August 16:  We’re closing at 4:00PM so we can all go to Kimball Farm for a Safety Reward Party.

►    I’ve been told that we are telling people that our generic Econo Shock (currently labeled Pool Tech) is 6%.  No, it is 12%.  Just like it says on the label.  It is a lower quality than Target Super Shock, which is why it is in a white bottle – so that the customer does not see the impurities.  Those impurities are eventually filtered out by the filter, and they shorten the shelf-life of the shock, but both of our liquid shocks were labeled at the same strength when they were made.  I know that the Target Super Shock is actually made at around 15% so that it can deteriorate over a year or two and still be 12 ½%.  Of course with us, it is only about a month old when we sell it, because we can’t fit more than a month’s worth in the building.  And it’s made right before we get it.  I have no information on the Econo Shock, but it does take us 2-3 years to run out.

My opinion – the Target Super Shock is always better, and probably a better deal when it is only 50% more expensive than the Econo Shock.  If it is twice as expensive than the Econo Shock, the Econo Shock would be a better deal.  I don’t believe that it has ever been that much more expensive than the Econo Shock.

►    We had six inquiries on Yelp last week, and one of them clicked through to directions.

►       PLEASE do not pile things on the floor in front of the electrical room.  It is illegal and very dangerous to a fireman that has to enter that room during a fire.

►    CoverLogix has a new price list that actually started a month ago.  So prices are now slightly higher.  That means that old quotes are wrong, too.  Everyone with a previous quote should be told that they have until August 15 to give us a deposit, or we need to re-write the quote.  There is, however, a new $50 mail-in rebate that may actually lower the end price or make it very close.

►    Weekly Fire Alarm Tip: Acting managers should direct contaminated runoff to the floor drains. Also, flow of non-contaminated runoff to floor drains should be prevented so there is enough room for the contaminated runoff. Acting managers are responsible for informing staff when it is safe to re-enter the building.  In the case of false alarms, always ask the fire department for the okay to re-enter.

►    Internet Humor:

–        “My therapist says I have a preoccupation with vengeance.  We’ll see about that.”

–        I rang up the phone company I said.  “I want to report a nuisance caller”, he said “Not you again.”

–        Slept like a log last night….Woke up in the fireplace.

–        A priest, a rabbi, and a minister walk into a bar.  The barman says, “Is this some kind of joke?”

►    Anti-Jokes:

–        What’s red and smells like blue paint?  Red paint.

–        A gorilla walks into a bar and order a banana martini.  The bartender thinks this is a little peculiar and then becomes aware he is actually dreaming.  He wakes up from his dream and begins to tell his wife about the ridiculous dream he had.  His wife just ignores him, the man rolls over and beings to sob because he realizes his marriage is in shambles.
