You have just purchased and set up your new hot tub. The pleasure and the serenity await you and you can’t wait to enjoy it. However, there are a few safety and health considerations to keep in mind before you take advantage of your new found hot tub joy.
- The major consideration to make before enjoying your hot tub is your health. You should always consult with your doctor before using a hot tub if you have a heart problem, high blood pressure, or diabetes. You should also speak with your doctor about using your hot tub if you are pregnant.
- It is always good practice to take a full shower before you enjoy your hot tub. This will help reduce the possibility of causing contamination of the water in the hot tub. Also, ventilation is important. If your new hot tub is inside, make sure you have, also, installed an exhaust fan.
- If your hot tub is outside, avoid tracking dirt and sand into the hot tub. Outside substances can affect water contamination as well as present possible filter problems.
- Open cuts or sores should never be brought into the spa. In addition, the water temperature should not be any higher than 104 degrees as the hot water has an immediate affect on everyone’s heart and circulation. Cardiovascular problems could develop if the water goes any higher so keep you temperature control system where you can easily read and control it.
- It is ill advised to use alcohol or drugs in your new hot tub and it should not be used during any manner of electrical storm.
- Finally, long hair should be tied and put up to avoid being caught up in the drain or the filter system. Installing handrails would also be advisable for ease of movement and to guard against falls.
Your new hot tub will be an addition to your home and life that will bring lasting value to both. Keeping some simple and common sense safety procedures in mind will ensure that you and yours enjoy the benefits of a hot tub for a long time to come.
